Saudi Arabia Mineral Resources and Mining
Geological surveys and mineral exploration have revealed that, in addition to vast oil reserves, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia possesses large deposits of various minerals, including bauxite, copper, gold, iron, lead, silver, tin and a number of non-metallic minerals.
23 March 1997, in order to coordinate and promote projects in the MEG has been established, with more more than one billion U.S. dollars in initial funding. MEG is responsible for regulating and monitoring their progress in mineral exploration. Mining projects which are owned by the Government or in which the Government is participating are to be consolidated and rebuilt commercially. MEG will also provide sufficient mining projects in remote areas of infrastructure. Base Hajar, advertising, Duwaihi, the Samran, Sheban, Zalm and Hamdah, phosphate ore deposits of dry river Sarhan and Turaif, in Zargat, Jabal of Abt and Jabal al Rukham, in the Al Khnaiguiyah magnesium and zinc as and industrial metals in Jabal Sodah exploration licenses.

The reconstruction and expansion project in Saudi Arabia is the first contracted project without dependence on the international highway projects of China Gezhouba (Group,5th) Corporation .
This project is going to transform the 156km existing gravel road into a dual-lane 7m wide asphalt road. It started in May 2007 and will be finished in November 2010.
